DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide overall and comprehensive day-to-day supervision on a construction site.
  • Ensure all construction activity is being performed to high quality standards in compliance with project brief; design specifications, drawings, budget and schedule.
  • Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to involved staff and contractors.
  • Scheduling of work to be carried out to ensure production targets are achieved.
  • Co-ordinate and optimize the arrangement of daily activities tasked to the construction crews and external subcontractors to minimize lost productivity time.
  • Review supplier’s quotes, site resources requests, procured items, deliveries and on-site production to validate accurate fulfilment, quality control and maintain profitability.
  • Ensure activities are completed according to planned schedule. Expedite and co-ordinate any delayed or potentially delayed activities.
  • Maintain regular estimates of the cost-to-completion and time-to-completion for each task.
  • Produce together with Quantity Surveyors onsite, procurement schedules and liaise with the procurement department to ensure sites have adequate resources to complete the tasks.
  • Certify invoices submitted by suppliers and contractors and recommend for payment.
  • Produce good quality, accurate monthly reports for the Client and internally
  • Lead, motivate, communicate, develop, appraise and performance manage site staff to ensure that they achieve best performance to meet the company’s needs.
  • Contribute to improving the business, protecting and enhancing the reputation of the company, by putting forward new ideas and, when requested to do so, implementing change.
  • Determine and recommend labor force, materials, and equipment requirements.
  • Identify risk and opportunity in all aspects of construction management, and implement mitigation measures where risks are appreciable
  • Ensure an excellent health & safety culture, with responsibility for implementing all regulatory and company health and safety requirements and procedures for the workplaces under your control, and to ensure full compliance of those requirements and procedures.
  • Implement detailed project programs which allow accurate monitoring and reporting of all activities under your control.
  • In conjunction with the Commercial Manager and others regularly review the financial performance of the contracts under your control.
  • Resolve and respond to any queries and complaints notified to you, such response to be in a courteous, efficient and timely manner.
  • Deal with and authorize wages and timesheets for the staff under your control.
  • Ensure all sub-contractors work within the required specification and adhere to general Company Policies.
  • Define clear roles, responsibilities and deliverable requirements of each team member and that they understand the scope given to them.
  • Monitor site productivity and schedule performance and investigate reasons for less than satisfactory performance. Provide recommendations and institute measures for improvement.

  • Computer literate, with a working knowledge of Construction packages including but not limited to Microsoft Project & MS Office.
  • Hold a full clean driving license.
