PRIMARY FUNCTION


To provide strategic and operational direction to the running of the medical insurance operations in order to ensure profitability and sustainability of the medical insurance business.


 


PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES



  • Providing supportive leadership development by coaching and counselling staff within the area, through ensuring effective management of people and actively motivating staff to achieve results.

  • Ensuring effective management of daily operations in order for strategic and operational targets to be met.

  • Representing the medical insurance company in Zimbabwe at industry.

  • Building sustainable relationships with stakeholders in the country to enhance and imbed the company brand image within the market.

  • Providing input into the operational strategies, product development and business development practices as well as communication strategies.

  • Assuming responsibility for market, legislative and industry reviews in order to inform and reposition the business accordingly to its benefit.

  • Advising management of possible threats that would adversely affect the business as well as any opportunities that would promote the interest of the company and taking proactive strides to avert loss of business or harness opportunities.

  • Establishing and implementing appropriate country specific strategies to allow country specific opportunities and threats to be effectively addressed.

  • Ensuring successful and effective implementation of the product, business development and operations strategies.

  • Ensuring operational and business growth targets are met and track the ‘new business pipeline’.

  • Ensuring relationships with key stakeholders and in country partners, are maintained effectively in order to enable and support business strategy.

  • Managing the budget  effectively and   all operating expenditure  costs.

  • Providing supportive leadership development by coaching and counselling staff within the area, through ensuring effective management of people and actively motivating staff to achieve results.


Education and Experience



  • A  first degree in business

  • An MBA would be an added advantage

  • At least 5-7 years’ experience in Health/Insurance sector are essential
