Duties & Responsibilities Financial and legal Prepares management accounts for the Funds under the Company’s management as well as those for the Company and ensures that they are produced within set timelines. Plans and coordinates the annual budgeting process for the Funds and The company and ensures that the budgets are timeously produced. Produces maintains and updates the Company’s asset register and ensures that all Company assets are properly insured and maintained. Conducts a Financial Systems audit and ensures that systems are compliant with acceptable standards. Reviews financial systems for any improvements or adjustments and implements upon the Managing Director or Board’s approval. Implements and continuously reviews all internal controls Provides a professional Company Secretarial service to the organisation and ensures compliance with matters of governance as well as matters legal. Attends Fund Trustees’ meetings and Board of Directors’ meetings to report on and offer advice on matters financial. Liaises with Investment and Audit Committees or any committees that may be set up by the respective entities for which financial input is required. Human Resources Management Participates, in consultation with the Human Resources Department, in the recruitment, selection and induction of Finance personnel and ensures that new employees are properly inducted and settle expeditiously in their new positions. Supervises all staff in the Finance Department and ensures that manpower is utilised efficiently and effectively. Sets performance targets for and in agreement with subordinates; monitors and appraises their performance on an on-going basis. Consults the Managing Director and the Human Capital Manager on all matters pertaining to human resources management and compensation administration (Payroll). Attends Works Council meetings and provides financial and any required information to members. Attends to and deals with all motivational, disciplinary and grievance issues concerning subordinates. Monthly Prepares and produces accurate monthly financial and management accounts in respect of the entities under management by the 15th day of the following month and distributes them to Fund Trustees. Advises the respective entities on any interventions that may be necessary to ensure legal or financial compliance. Advises management on financial issues during monthly management meetings or any such meetings that may be convened from time to time. Ensures that the necessary tax returns are submitted to the relevant authorities on time. Quarterly Plans and coordinates the quarterly budgeting process for all entities under management. Prepares accurate and timeous financial reports for Fund Trustees’ and Company Board meetings. Ensures quarterly returns are sent to the Ministry of Health in terms of the Medical Services Act. Annually Plans and coordinates the annual audit including preparation of audit packs and schedules. Plans for and attends the Fund’s Annual General Meetings and ensures that they are held in terms of the Companies Act. General Performs any other relevant and professional duties as assigned by the Managing Director from time to time. Key Decisions Made Determines the timing, deliverables and budget items in respect of the business and financial plans. Decides on external parties/consultants to provide statutory services such as financial and tax audits, legal advice etc. Establishes the timing of internal audits and internal financial controls. Decides the nature and extent of the insurance policy cover on company assets. Decides on human resources matters for the Finance department in liaison with the Human Capital Manager. Qualifications & Experience Degree in Finance/Accounts/Business Studies Articles of Clerkship At least 5 years of experience
