Main Duties: FINANCIAL BUSINESS PLANNING Analysing the agreed 3 – 5 year strategy Incorporating the Board of Trustees’ expectations of the Fund for the year, Scanning the macro and microenvironment to ascertain impact on the business, Analysing and projecting resources requirements to build operational and financial plans in line with the business strategic objectives and expectations BUDGETING AND FINANCIAL CONTROL Prepares the Fund’s budgetary assumptions (contribution rates and tariffs) guided by the rules and budgetary framework. Reviews the budgets input such as forecast income statements, balance sheets etc. received from the Accountant. Prepares the budget pack for submission to the Managing Director for review. Collates information for capital expenditure plans, estimates and rationalises the budget in line with projected revenue and cashflows. Controls capital and operational expenditure and authorises purchase requisitions and invoices. FUND PERFORMANCE Monitors the financial performance in line with Fund rules, policies and international standards and makes recommendations to the M.D Analyses the financial impact of tariff reviews and monitors the claims ratio and recommends strategies to contain the ratio within the recommended standards to the M.D Assesses Fund Administrator reports on Contributions collections and Payment Runs, and follows up on reports on anomalies and claims trends in order to eliminate financial leakages. Follows up on issues raised by the Financial Analyst after analysis and interrogates business intelligence reports (Power BI Reports) for reports on significant findings to the MD Considers financial forecasts and sensitivity analysis reports from the Financial Analyst considering contribution rates increases scenarios. Computes financial impact analysis for new tariffs increase proposal. Maintains strong financial analysis foundation creating forecasts and models that inform financial decision making at every stage in business cases life cycles in collaboration with the Financial Analyst. Reviews and approves monthly financial reconciliations and ensures safe keeping of the same in line with Generally Accepted Accounting Standards Establishes a control environment to ensure that financial records are accurate. Monitors effective implementation of financial and non-financial controls. Identifies and recommends optimum financial systems for use in managing fund resources. Implements internal controls to avoid leakages and ensure accurate financial information Provides external Auditors access to Fund information. Ensures that the external Auditors recommendations have been correctly addressed and implemented. Maintains stakeholder relationships by meeting members, service providers, banks and suppliers to improve stakeholder experience. MANAGEMENT OF THE DEPARTMENT Participates in the updating and maintaining of the relevant departmental structures. Develops the necessary plan/s to ensure that the Department meets its agreed goals and objectives, meets staff on a pre-agreed basis, identifies and agrees key performance areas, key objectives/tasks and action plans. Carries out evaluation of staff, identifies performance strengths and deficiencies, and arranges for necessary action (for example further on the job training, disciplinary action or similar). Attends Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly Departmental and divisional meetings Qualification: Bachelor of Accounting Degree Professional Accounting qualification-CIMA/ CA/ACCA At least 6 years’ experience in Finance
