Duties & Responsibilities

  • Direct the planning, resources needed and effective implementation of the Resettlement program in line with the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) and the RAP action plan document, full compliance with national and international standards i.e., IFC, World Bank, Equator Principles and Environmental Resource Management (ERM)
  • A structured engagement with all applicable stakeholders for smooth implementation of the RAP project.
  • Providing technical expertise on the compensation, identifying and implementing livelihoods restoration projects for the project affected persons in line with national and international standards.
  • Planning for and execution of the post resettlement activities including monitoring and evaluation of the project in line with the cut-off dates.
  • Adoption and application of applicable RAP tools and methodologies for the delivery of a cost-effective RAP implementation program.
  • Providing detailed and concise reports to Management on the implementation of the RAP, challenges and recommendations for the effectiveness of the program.
  • Providing technical expertise on operational environmental management system by setting a framework which translates commitments of the (ESIA), Cultural Heritage, Biodiversity, ESMP, ESIA Addendums into operational work including required reviews.
  • Compliance with all Environmental laws including international standards such as ISO 14001 (2015), ISO 5001 (2011) on Energy Management, and Sustainable Mining best practices.
  • Coordinating Baseline Environmental Risk Assessment such as ESIA studies, hydrocarbons management, carbon footprint, sustainable resource management as required by the Environmental Management Agency (EMA), other regulatory authorities such as ZINWA and international standards.
  • Documentation of operational environmental procedures for effective management of environmental risks such as dust, hydrocarbons, emissions, effluent, resource use water balance including social risks.
  • Ensuring full compliance with the Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP) of the ESIA document.
  • Internal reporting on the performance of the operational environmental system against set objectives and targets to Management including statutory reporting to EMA.
  • Regularizing permits and licences on mines Environmental Management System including tracking compliance with permit conditions and changing circumstances

Qualifications & Experience

  • BSc in Rural and Urban Planning
  • A Masters Degree will be an added advantage
  • At least 3 years of hands-on working experience in planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of RAP projects in Zimbabwe.
  • Must have experience with mining Environmental and Social Management Systems.
  • Working knowledge of Integrated Management System (IMS)
  • Experience in setting ISO 14001, ISO 9001 , ISO 45001 and ISO 50001 Systems is an added advantage.
  • Highly recognized Environment and Sustainable Development Consultant registered with applicable local and international bodies.
  • Excellent engagement and communication skills including report writing and presentation skills.
