Managing Director

Main Duties: Sets direction at a strategic and tactical level and develops and takes accountability for a business plan Integrates delivery and metrics across the people, process, finance and customer dimensions of the business at a strategic or tactical level. Delivers on strategic projects as sponsor. Manages directly (Operations Managers and Executives & Senior Specialists), indirect reports (Team Leaders / Clerical staff) and Sales staff. Responsible for strategic direction of the Business, including all components of Finance, HR, Marketing and Brand, Risk & IT Accountable for thought leadership and best operating practices in response to external environment. Strong focus on cross functional operations and networking across internal and external boundaries. Strong focus on direction setting and achieving operational results through building a strong operational & sales management (Operations Manager) team, with support functions (HR, communication, process management etc.) Manages the profitability of the business (bottom line responsibility). Managing the development of the business in terms of product set and distribution (including economic viability). Manage key external relationships to create a supportive brand, inclusive of media and marketing strategies Ensure capable management succession as well as progressive employee training and development programs Qualifications: Bachelor of Commerce Degree MBA At least 10 years business experience At least 5 years post qualification experience in a senior managerial role in the insurance sector An Insurance Professional Qualification an added advantage
