1. OVERALL MISSION/PURPOSE

Within the framework of the company’s objectives and yearly action plan, his/her mission is to: -

  • To support the development & implementation of Business Performance Management systems & processes across Lafarge Cement Zimbabwe Limited
  • To support robust planning processes across the business to ensure excellent forecasts, performance benchmarks & action plans are developed and to conduct business performance analysis that would provide insights to aid management decision making
  • To lead development of MTP, Budgets and forecasts annually and monthly
  • To prepare accurate and timely monthly/bi-annual and full year management reports to Group.
  • To review monthly expenditure reports with the relevant HODs
  • To prepare annual statutory and periodic financial statements of the Company, including reports pursuant to ZSE requirements.
  • To prepare accurate and timely variance analysis schedules versus budget, prior month, forecast and prior years
  • To be a key contact with external auditors for the annual and half year reporting to ensure that the audit is conducted as per plan.

3. PERFORMANCE CRITERIA

  • Preparation of business performance presentations and commentaries
  • Assist annual co-ordination of the audit process

4. RESPONSIBILITIES

.

  • Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) – ensure that all work performed is in compliance with relevant Health, Safety and Environment regulations and guidelines.
  • Business Code of Conduct - To comply with the requirements stipulated in the company code of business conduct
  • Internal control compliance – To comply with applicable internal control standards and responsibilities ensuring that prescribed standards are designed and operating effectively.
  • Prepare key performance presentations for use by management e.g. Executive Committee (monthly), Board (quarterly), Financial results (bi-annually) and other impromptu presentations as may be required by management.
  • Perform detailed analysis of the monthly overall performance files and Quarterly Business Reviews (QBR’s) ensuring consistency of information with other reports e.g. S&V, SAP FC etc to advise management on corrective actions and enable decision making.
  • Coordinate the preparation of monthly/bi-annual financial reports (Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss and Cash flow statements) to ensure correctness and timeliness of reporting and full compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
  • Assist with coordination of the audit process with external auditors in preparation of annual statutory financials to ensure that the audit is conducted as per plan. This will involve liaison with other internal departments on behalf of the external auditors to ensure closure of issues raised in the management letters.
  • Lead the development of technology solutions for planning and verifying business objectives to improve business efficiency.
  • Responsible for collation and validation of financial and industry statistical data as requested by various parties e.g. Lafarge, Bureau of Statistics and management.

5. PROFILE OF NECESSARY COMPETENCIES/SKILLS

Educational Background & Experience

  • University degree in Finance, Accounting, Statistics or other course of a numerate background but must have relevant professional qualification – CA, CPA, ACCA, CFA or equivalent.
  • Qualification in business/performance management and/or systems/process review desirable.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a multinational manufacturing industry

Competencies

  • High level of analytical & performance management skills and attention to detail.
  • Good computer knowledge, exposure to an ERP environment and reporting tools. Excellent knowledge of spreadsheets and other Microsoft office applications is essential.
  • Excellent stills in the use of spreadsheets and related analytical tools.
  • Good understanding of IFRS and Taxation issues

Management Skills

  • Good reporting and communication skills.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Proactive and able to take initiative to propose and implement new approaches.
  • Must be a team player.
