Overall Job Purpose
The position exists to manage all the financial administration aspects and information of the organization to various stakeholders inter alia financial planning, cost control, budgeting as well as responsible for coordinating and leading the finance and business analysis aspects.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1.Strategic direction and policy formulation
•Formulate and implement financial strategies, policies and procedures in support of the business mandate
•Establishes the processes and procedures on financial issues that include both financials and management accounts and provide accurate information for the Board to make informed decisions.
2. Budgeting and Cost Control
•Spearheads the Company’s budget preparation ,approval ,and review process in order to match stipulated budget against expenditure.
•Reviews actual expenditure against budget and makes recommendations for possible action.
3. Financial Reporting
•Receives monthly management accounts and reviews to verify accuracy and the financial position of the organisation.
•Ensures the production of annual financial statements for the Board in compliance with the Public and Finance Management Act and other governing statutes.
4. Financial Management and Control
•Draws up financial policy that governs financial matters in the organisation and ensures understanding by relevant departments.
•Monitors adherence to laid down internal controls by all departments and stakeholders so as to safeguard the organisation from financial loses
•Prepares an organisational audit plan in accordance with statutory regulations
•Reviews external auditor’s management reports and clears issues raised therein and address any issues that would have been raised
6. Treasury Function
•Negotiates with financial institutions for favourable banking facilities and banking conditions so as to ensure adequate capitalisation of the organisation.
•Exercises due diligence and prudence in deciding which banks to deal with.
Qualifications and Experience
•Relevant University Degree in Accounting / Finance / equivalent
•Master’s degree is an added advantage
•The Ideal candidate must be a qualified CA
•A minimum of 7 years experience at a senior managerial role.
