OBJECTIVES/PURPOSE OF JOB

To provide both financial and commercial support to the senior managers at. Responsible for management and financial reporting in Zimbabwe. This role is accountable for the administration, financial and risk management operations of the company and the on-going development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve company assets and report financial results.

  1. Design policies, processes and procedures for the management of financial reporting activities for the region

  • Identifies and implements cost savings
  • Support business decisions with the provision of pertinent and up to date financial information
  • Reviews, updates and enforces policies and procedures and suggests improvements
  • Creates a process flow for the management of departmental expenditure including tracking of expenditure and cost savings measures
  • Oversees and is responsible for the management and adherence to policies and processes relating to Financial management
  • Implements processes and procedures in line with Group requirements
  1. Operational Finance Operating Model

  • Manage the finance team
  • Develop and recommend to the Head of Finance- shared services, the operational requirements, organisational structure, staffing and budgets that support financial operations
  • Assist with training the senior management in terms of their financial know-how and understanding of the business and financial reports
  • Provide information and assistance as and when required by the Regional Finance Director
  • Act as key liason with external auditors and prepare the annual financial statements for the business
  • Prepare monthly management reporting, and design additional reporting as is required
  • Prepare forecasts and budget for the business as required
  1. Financial Systems implementation and management

  • Manage Syspro as our ERP to ensure that it supports financial reporting and planning across the business
  • Manage, monitor and enforce ERP elements including security, access levels, changes
  • Monitors and manages data updates and integrity of data
  1. Management of Risk, Compliance and Governance

  • Review and identify risks across the business that arise out of finance related matters
  • Respond to such risks as they arise and ensure that processes are put in place to mitigate them
  • Ensure compliance with the group’s risk and governance policies in Zimbabwe
  1. Design and Implement of Internal Controls

  • Review of internal controls relating to financial processes and implementation of enhancements, wherever gaps are identified.
  • Ensure that all Cash Book and General Ledger Reconciliations are carried out on a monthly basis, to ensure the accuracy of financial information.
  1. Payroll Management (Financial elements)

5%

  • Ensures that systems and controls are in place to reconcile the payments, accounts payable and employee complement, as indicated by Human Resources, with the payroll run each month.
  • Sign off reconciliations for accounting purposes are undertaken monthly.
  • Review and approval of monthly payrolls.
  • Approval of all monthly Payments relating to Payroll
  1. Finance support and management

  • Main contact with Banking partners including the negotiation of Banking Facilities
  • Approve cheque and eft requisitions
  • Authorise electronic payments on internet banking
  • Apply to obtain valid Tax Clearance Certificate on an annual basis
  • Main Contact with Company auditors. Liaise with Auditors to ensure audit is carried out and
  • General management of office functions including Admin and office Facilities, Fleet management, Manage courier services and deliveries, Cell phones contracts, Petrol cards
  1. Reporting and Analysis

  • Critically evaluating financial information and making business aware of risks, variances and corrective actions
  • Identifies reasons for issues, determining if valid and potential solutions to areas of concern
  • Submission of VAT Tax returns.
  1. Commercial Support

  • Be a close business partner to the various functional heads
  • Review of financial proposals, contracts. Leases etc. of regional requirements
  • Tender reviews and determine financial feasibility and viability
  • Financial consultant across all departments
  1. Departmental and People Management

Resource Planning

  • Determine the human resource requirements, in accordance with the expected deliverables and current capacity
  • Secure the human resource requirements to ensure that deliverables will be met in accordance with the expected targets
  • Minimise staff turnover
  • Lead the department in such a manner as to foster innovation and technological excellence.
  • Demonstrate behaviour aligned to the company values
  • Plan equitable distribution of responsibilities and accountabilities and plan appropriate human capacity and full utilisation for projects under management

Performance Management

  • Design deliverables and targets through analysis of the business operational plans
  • Compile the Performance Management documentation in collaboration with the staff member in terms of:
  • Job Profile requirements
  • Key Performance Areas
  • Personal Development Plans
  • Conduct performance planning session, track and monitor performance in accordance with performance contracts
  • Conduct performance reviews in accordance with policies and procedures and take corrective actions where necessary
  • Provide coaching and feedback to employees on how to improve and sustain their performance
  • Lead the department by managing appointments, promotions, and industrial relations issues conjunction with the Human Resources department
  • Conduct disciplinary actions as per the company’s policy and procedure where necessary

  • Adhere to financial guidelines and thus ensure proper control over expenditure
  • Pursue divisional targets and manage the financial health and stability of department.

CANDIDATE PROFILE:

QUALIFICATIONS/TRAINING

(e.g. professional qualfications, on-the-job training)

  • Qualified chartered accountant (or similar)

EXPERIENCE

(E.g. health care industry, multinational company, number of years, what level/types of roles, etc.)

  • 5+ years’ experience in a Financial Management Position
  • Experience of working within international companies at a financial management level
  • Knowledge of developing and implementing financial systems
  • Business partnering across functions
