Duties and Responsibilities
- Creating and implementing the Vision, Mission and Strategic Plans of the organisation in consultation with Industry Stakeholders, Government, Local/International Research Institutions and other players ensuring that the organisation plays its role in the realization of Government of Zimbabwe’s Vision 2030.
- Undertaking research programmes that ensure that Zimbabwean FCV tobacco remains in demand in global tobacco markets taking into account Sustainable Tobacco Production protocols and a corporate culture of sustainability premised on ESG (environment, social, and governance aspects).
- Providing Leadership to a vibrant team of researchers on tobacco and alternate crops to tobacco including review of research papers as well as commercial activities of the organisaion.
- Ensuring compliance with Government of Zimbabwe laws and policies and other International protocols.
- Liaison and communication with government and other stakeholders that include tobacco growers, tobacco merchants and other players in the Industry, agrochemical companies and the general public.
- Implementing a communication and extension strategy that ensures growers adopt sustainable production practices for tobacco, rotational crops and alternate crops.
- Exploring the external environment and Industry developments for growth opportunities.
- Ensuring adequate funding for organisations operations.
- Assessing and monitoring risks to the organisation and coming up with mitigatory measures.
- Maintaining a cordial and productive work environment that fosters employee engagement and growth.
Qualifications and Experience
- A Bachelor’s degree in the field of Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, Natural Sciences or Business Studies/Administration.
- A Masters’ degree/PhD or equivalent postgraduate qualification in the above areas will be an added advantage.
- At least 10 years of relevant experience of which 5 years should be at executive level
