Assistant Hatcheries Manager

Duties and Responsibilities

1.    Manages Hatchery operations by walk about and data analytics and takes corrective action to ensures that the Hatcheries achieves the agreed target on Hatch %, cull %, HOF & 7-day mortality and/or escalates unresolved issues.

2.    Responsible for all the activities in the egg room, setting and machine operation (setters & hatchers).

3.    Responsible for setting & hatching the eggs and managing incubation process

4.    Ensures that all processes are implemented at all time to achieve expected results in the egg room, setting & hatching departments

5.    Liaises with Chicks Sales

6.    Identifies, monitors & reports abnormal quality & mortality issues immediately to Company Hatcheries Manager.

7.    Keeps up to date with technical specifications from suppliers and global industry trends in hatchery technology

8.    Maintain and analyse data to make effective decisions 

9.    Analyses costs and ensures all costs are within set & agreed budget and takes corrective action when necessary

10. Ensures compliance with production and bio-security standards

11. Leading and managing diverse group of team members

Qualifications

·        Relevant tertiary educational qualification in Animal Science / Animal Production and demonstrable managerial experience.

·        Sound knowledge of dynamics involved in hatching of chicken eggs and growing chickens.

·        Proven track record demonstrating individual’s ability to maintain sound relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders as well as being able to implement effective management systems.

·        Good financial management skills.

·        Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational and interpersonal skills.

·        Ability to work both independently and as a team.
