Provides legal advice to various departments and executives within the Group.
Drafts, peruses and approves all legal agreements, undertakings or contracts which are to be concluded between the business units and third party(s).
Represents the business units when signing contracts or other legal documents.
Provides assistance to all departments on legal aspects that arise in disciplinary matters as and when required.
Assists in the prosecution of criminal claims or actions between the State and the Accused, where the accused is an employee in the Group and the case in question involves the company.
Attends Industrial Relations hearings on behalf of Group companies.
Provides feedback to management regarding the outcome of the hearing and recommends appropriate action.
Monitoring Litigation And Potential Litigation
Monitors Litigation By Maintaining Contact With External Advisers And Potential Litigation Situations By Communicating With All Business Units And Through Attendance Of Management Committee Meetings.
Prepares Monthly Litigation Reports For Circulation To Various Boards.
Briefs External Advisors On Cases Represented On Behalf Of The Group As And When Required
COMPANY SECRETARIAL FUNCTIONS
Convenes and attends quarterly Committee and Board meetings.
Dispatches Board packs to Board members
COMPLIANCE/GOVERNANCE
Maintains company records such as minutes, annual returns, share register and licences.
REVIEWING NEW LEGISLATION
Researches on legal developments likely to impact on operations throughout the Group on an ongoing basis.
ADMINISTRATION
Authorises payments.
Certifies company documents for acceptance by third parties as and when required.
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Law or related field plus vocational training.
5 years’ experience in a similar or related environment and 2 of which should be in a management position in a commercial environment.
