Research Economist

<p><strong>Duties and Responsibilities</strong></p> <ul> <li>Deliver inputs in collaborative research and knowledge management activities carried out by the organisation.</li> <li>Over the duration of the contract produce four infrastructure focused papers that are analytical and publishable focusing on; (i) infrastructure project preparation (ii) Infrastructure project funding (iii) Capacity building initiatives.</li> <li><em>The reports should:</em> <ul> <li> highlight the current status of the sectors, opportunities that exist for bank intervention and resource mobilisation opportunities.</li> <li>identify national priority projects in the targeted sectors in line with the country development policies. </li> <li>outline the main challenges the sectors face, propose solutions on how the organisation can re-align its interventions to solve some of the problems.</li> <li>explore major projects that need to be undertaken to address the demand and supply gap in support the country&rsquo;s requirements both in terms of existing industry and commerce capacity and projected growth as the economy rebounds.</li> <li>propose clear legal, policy and institutional framework required for effectual funding of the sectors.</li> <li>Anticipated benefits of the envisaged intervention in the sector.</li> </ul> </li> </ul> <p><strong>Qualifications and Experience</strong></p> <ul> <li>Hold a minimum of a master&rsquo;s degree in Economics, Economic modelling, Macroeconomics, Econometrics and Development Economics.</li> <li>Bsc in Economics.</li> <li>A PhD in Development Economics will be an added advantage.</li> <li>Strong publications record in reputable peer review journals.</li> <li>Have a minimum of seven (7) years of professional experience in Development Research and Analysis.</li> <li>Extensive practical knowledge of advanced econometric methods and ability to handle, process and analyze large time series datasets using relevant econometric packages- Eviews and Stata.</li> <li>Ability to come up with appropriate methods and techniques to conduct cutting edge empirical research and present the results.</li> </ul>
