KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Tax Compliance & Filing
• Prepare and submit accurate and timely tax returns (VAT, PAYE, Withholding Tax, Corporate Income Tax, etc.) in line with statutory deadlines.
• Reconcile tax accounts and ensure alignment with general ledger balances. • Compute and process tax payments, ensuring no penalties or interest are incurred.
• Maintain up-to-date records of all tax submissions and correspondence with ZIMRA.
Regulatory Compliance
• Monitor and ensure compliance with sector-specific regulatory requirements (e.g. POTRAZ, licensing conditions).
• Track changes in tax and regulatory legislation and advise management on implications.
• Prepare and submit regulatory returns and reports within required timeframes.
• Maintain and renew all statutory licences, permits, and registrations.
Advisory & Risk Management
• Advise management and departments on the tax implications of business decisions and transactions.
• Identify tax risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Support tax planning initiatives to optimize the company's tax position within legal frameworks.
Audit & Documentation
• Coordinate tax audits and respond to queries raised by ZIMRA and other regulators.
• Maintain organized documentation to support all tax positions and regulatory filings.
• Liaise with external tax consultants and auditors as required.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Taxation, Finance, or a related field.
• Professional qualification (ACCA, CIS, CTA) or equivalent is an added advantage.
• Minimum of 3 years' relevant experience in a tax and/or regulatory compliance role.
• Sound knowledge of Zimbabwean tax laws and regulatory frameworks.
