JOB PURPOSE
This position exists to assist the Manager Advocacy and Training in conducting thorough inquiries, gathering and analysing evidence, and preparing detailed reports for the Authority. The Investigating Officer leads end-to-end data privacy investigations identifying potential breaches, securing and preserving digital and physical evidence, conducting stakeholder interviews, and performing forensic analysis. The incumbent shall assist in maintaining confidentiality, ensuring legal compliance, and liaising with law enforcement agencies as necessary and possible.
The position reports to the Manager responsible for Advocacy and Training
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Gather evidence and information through various techniques, including surveillance, interviews, and forensic analysis.
Prepare detailed reports of findings and maintain accurate records of all investigations.
Work with law enforcement agencies, legal professionals, and other stakeholders to build cases and support legal proceedings.
Provide recommendations to senior management based on investigation findings and assist during legal proceedings.
Keep up-to-date with laws, regulations, and best practices related to investigations for the Authority.
Conduct investigations into various incidents and provide detailed reports to senior management.
Collect and analyse evidence, interview witnesses, and coordinate with other departments as necessary.
Provide recommendations to senior management based on findings and provide support during legal proceedings.
Maintain accurate and detailed records of all investigations and ensure they are stored securely.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, external partners and law enforcement agencies.
Stay up-to-date with laws, regulations, and best practices related to investigations.
Contribute to the development and implementation of company-wide investigation policies and procedures.
Utilise a variety of techniques, including surveillance, interviews, and forensic analysis, to gather information and build a case.
Writing reports, testifying in court, and working with other law enforcement agencies.
Conduct investigations on potentially fraudulent activity within the company
Analyse data and preserve evidence to uncover patterns and potential leads in investigations
Manage and maintain confidential information and sensitive documents related to investigations
Ensure compliance with company policies and legal regulations throughout the investigative process
Provide support and guidance to other departments on fraud prevention and detection measures
Any other duty in line with the scope of the job responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as Criminal Justice, Law, Forensic
A master’s degree is an added advantage in a relevant field.
At least 5 years of demonstrable experience in state security/public organisations.
A Clean Class Four Driver’s License.
