Main Duties:

  • Responsible for the day to day running of the Boiler house.
  • Oversees all boiler maintenance and servicing being done by contractors, keep written log of all work done. Ensures that statutory inspections and maintenance requirements are adhered to.
  • Maintain strict housekeeping of the boilers and surrounds.
  • Monitors coal stocks and consumption. Prepares report on coal stocks and forwards to the maintenance manager on a weekly basis.
  • Determine and discuss with the Maintenance Manager all staff training requirements.
  • Identifies training needs and conducts on the job training for subordinates and recommends to the manager any external training required.
  • Carries out routine and preventive mechanical maintenance of plant equipment and machinery.
  • Attends to plant breakdowns and trouble shooting. Ensures that repairs are carried out promptly and that the machines are brought back to production with minimal down time.
  • Writes and maintains documents on machine maintenance. Analyses and evaluates historical background of equipment and recommends replacement where necessary.
  • Carries out any machine installations or modifications to enhance productivity
  • Ensures good and safe use of all workshop equipment.

Qualifications:

  • Class 1 Journeyman
  • At least 2 years experience
