Overall Job Purpose

Supports the organization with legal strategies, policies, and systems in line with the overall organization strategy.


Duties and Responsibilities:

Participates in the formulation and implementation of policies, processes, and procedures, including handling all legal matters.

Manages all the activities of the legal department to ensure alignment with the corporate strategy.

Monitors the implementation of departmental plans, progress reports, and performance.

Ensures the organization is fully compliant with all statutory requirements in its operations.

Collaborates and builds relationships with key stakeholders.

Represents the organization in legal forums as assigned from time to time.

Submits monthly, and quarterly reports on the department’s performance.

Establishes and maintains professional links with relevant professional bodies for continuous development.

Manages all litigations brought before the courts of law, tribunals, external administrative hearings, or investigative bodies.

Acts as a legal advisor to the Board and management.

Ensures that the department complies with the organization’s HR policies and procedures.

Coordinates and facilitates development and capacity-building activities for staff within the department.

Monitors and evaluates the performance of staff within the department in line with set performance targets


Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor of Laws Honours degree
