Position Overview:
The Business Development Engineer will play a key role in driving the growth of the company by identifying new business opportunities, building client relationships, and promoting the company’s electrical engineering solutions. The role requires a balance of strong engineering knowledge, commercial acumen, and relationship-building skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Development & Sales
- Identify, evaluate, and secure new business opportunities in the electrical engineering sector.
- Prepare and present technical and commercial proposals to prospective clients.
- Develop and maintain long-term relationships with key customers, consultants, and stakeholders.
- Conduct market research to identify trends, customer needs, and competitive activities.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms of business with clients.
- Technical Support
- Provide engineering insights to ensure proposed solutions meet customer requirements.
- Collaborate with the engineering and projects teams to develop technical proposals.
- Assist in the design and specification of electrical engineering solutions tailored to client needs.
Strategic Input
- Support the company’s growth strategy by identifying target sectors such as industrial, mining, energy, utilities, and infrastructure.
- Contribute to the preparation of annual sales forecasts, budgets, and strategic plans.
- Represent the company at trade shows, conferences, and industry networking events.
Reporting & Administration
- Maintain accurate records of sales activities, pipelines, and customer interactions.
- Prepare periodic reports on business development activities and market performance.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical / Electronic Engineering .
- A postgraduate qualification in Business Administration, Marketing, or Project Management is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in business development, technical sales, or project engineering in the electrical engineering or related sector.
