Senior Manager - Mechanical

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill the position of Senior Manager - Mechanical within our Organisation. The job’s critical role is to lead and oversee the mechanical engineering operations across the Organisation's premises, including critical infrastructure such as data centres, fire protection systems, and building services. The role involves planning, preventive maintenance, project execution, and ensuring the integrity and reliability of all mechanical systems in line with the highest safety, regulatory, and operational standards.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

The ideal candidate should have:

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent qualification from a recognized University.

• At least five (5) years’ post-qualification experience in mechanical engineering, facilities management, or building services engineering, including a minimum of three (3) years in a managerial position.

• Demonstrated experience in the successful delivery and management of plant and equipment maintenance, shopfitting, refurbishment, office fit-outs, building modernisation, and infrastructure development projects.

• Experience working in high-security and mission-critical environments will be an added advantage.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plan, supervise, and manage all mechanical systems including, plumbing and drainage systems, fire protection systems, elevators, diesel generators, pumps, HVAC systems and building automation systems across all the Organisation’s buildings and properties.

• Manage shopfitting, refurbishment, renovation and fit-out projects for offices, banking halls, vaults, cash centres, training facilities and other properties, ensuring timely delivery within approved budgets.

• Develop and implement preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance programmes aimed at maximizing equipment reliability, safety and operational availability.

• Use CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) and other facility management tools to monitor asset performance, maintenance history and lifecycle costs.

• Manage consultants, contractors and service providers, ensuring compliance with contract specifications, quality standards, project timelines, service level agreements (SLAs) and procurement requirements.

• Manage mechanical works related to new construction, retrofitting, and modernisation of facilities.

• Coordinate with architects, consultants, and contractors to ensure compliance with specifications, timelines, and budget.

• Ensure adherence to safety codes, fire safety norms, building regulations, energy codes and government guidelines.

• Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and ensure compliance with internal and external audit findings.

• Promote energy efficiency, water conservation, and sustainable practices in mechanical operations.

• Develop annual operating and capital expenditure budgets for mechanical services, facilities upgrades, maintenance programmes and major equipment replacements.

• Prepare and present management reports on maintenance performance, project status, asset condition, regulatory compliance, risk management and engineering improvement initiatives.

• Lead, mentor and develop engineering, technical and maintenance teams, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, safety and continuous improvement.

• Provide specialist mechanical engineering advice to senior management on infrastructure planning, business continuity, technology upgrades and strategic facilities management.

• Provide support for mission-critical assignments involving shopfitting, plumbing and drainage, and mechanical systems, and undertake any related duties as assigned by management from time to time.
