Safety and Health Officer

Duties and Responsibilities Responsible for the management of all equipment in the Sick Bay to avoid any losses of such. Liaises with Head Corporate Services and Human Resources in order to develop and foster good relations with all employees. Decided on what medical equipment to use in the Sick Bay. Receives patients,probes to establish the specific problem and decides on appropriate medication to administer. Prepares monthly and quarterly illness reports for onward submission to Director Corporate Services. Liaises with admin offcier for transproting patients to the doctor/hospital when necessary. Facilitates medical examination for staff on a need basis. Liaises with the National AIDS Council for guidance on Government for HIV and Aids policy quartely to keep abreast with new regulations. Acquires condoms for distribution to members of staff on a regular basis. Liaises with Ministry of Health and Child Welfare for guidance on policy regularly to keep abreast with new regulations. Elects Health and Safety trainings to be conducted with the Authority. Liaises with NSSA, the responsible authorities, toguide in Health and safety training needs on a yearly basis. Supervises food handlers on hygiene and medical examination certificates. Checks on canteen inventory quarterly. Supervises cleaning service providers to ensure they carry out their mandates as per the agreed terms. Visits sick employees at home or at the hospital on a need basis. Identify own training needs and adhere to any training programmes as agreed. Qualifications and Experience State Registered nurse Valid practicing certificate Clean driver's license Shatco Diploma is an added advantage
