Mechanical Engineer

Duties and Responsibilities

• Provision of engineering support for all projects at the mine.


• Manages the maintenance function of mechanical engineering disciplines.


• Ensures equipment is adequately maintained in line with company procedures and maintenance schedules


• Ensures set equipment availability/reliability targets are safely met.


• Analyses equipment performance parameters and documentation.


• Performs assignments using standard practices, techniques, procedures and criteria.


• Carries out equipment life cycle costing and recommends new acquisitions or replacements.


• Maintains an inventory for critical spares.


• Ensures legal compliance to regulations and safety standards.

Qualifications and Experience

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering.


• A post graduate qualification such as MSc Mining/MBA an added advantage.


• A minimum of 5 years experience in a senior managerial role in the mining industry.


• Ability to work under pressure and adhere to set time frames and targets.
