The Real Salary: What Pay in Zimbabwe Is Actually Worth in 2026

A white paper on salary trends, inflation and the cost of living, built on official data from ZimStat, the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe, the Ministry of Finance, the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, and on IPC's 2026 salary survey series covering 67 organisations and more than 15,000 employees.

This white paper examines what salaries in Zimbabwe are worth in 2026 after accounting for inflation, exchange rate dynamics, and the cost of living. It is written for boards, chief executives and remuneration committees. Civil service pay is excluded from the analysis because it is determined by fiscal policy rather than by the market; it is addressed in a separate commentary in Section 12. The analysis draws on two bodies of evidence. The first is official statistics from the Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency, the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe, the Ministry of Finance, the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank and the African Development Bank.
